An amazing project… SEEDS

Entrepreneurship is a field of studies that should be part of all schools curriculums. It encourages young people to: establish ideas, set goals, enhance their decision making abilities, boost their personal confidence, and expand teamwork skills. For 21st century teachers, like me, it is an effective channel to help build a sense of confidence, leadership and independence to students. Through entrepreneurship we provide a series of experiences and knowledge in order to accomplish quality cognitive and social development in our students.

Lianette Cruz Díaz is a teacher and Montessori Guide at the Escuela Segunda Unidad Pasto in Aibonito, Puerto Rico. She has been a teacher for the SEEDS Program managed by Friends of Puerto Rico and Instituto Nueva Escuela since September 2019. Additionally, she advocates for entrepreneurship as a substantial instrument to generate decision-making skills, problem solving techniques, collaborative work enthusiasm and good self-esteem. She deeply believes in the potential each young boy and girl possess to develop their dreams and achieve their goals.

Precisely the SEEDS project, managed by Friends of Puerto Rico and Instituto Nueva Escuela, provides the tools and resources needed to help young people achieve that. The program offers students from 9 to 12 years old the opportunity to develop entrepreneurial strengths. As a result, with this curriculum we generate the capability to solve real problems through the creativity, innocence and imagination of the students. We contribute to improving the lives of students by urging them to pursue opportunities such as; take risks, propose new solutions, overcome obstacles and never give up until they achieve the level of success they want.

Since September 2019 I have been very fortunate to be part of this wonderful project which impacts a 100 Puerto Rican students. Without a doubt, this project is an amazing gift for my students and for me. We are very thankful for belonging to a program capable of giving students and teachers the opportunity to acquire all the necessary tools to be successful in today's world. Everyday, I clearly see how the entrepreneurial skills acquired in the program helped each of my students to reach their goals and emerge victorious in all situations and obstacles they encounter this year.

THANKS SEEDS!
