The brewery was founded in the public in 2012, and it was the first in NYC to brew a beer for LGBTQ Pride and to partner with a non-profit annually to promote their beers.
Kelly is the daughter of an Irish father and a Puerto Rican mother and spent six years of her life in Puerto Rico. She had dreamt of launching an Arroz Con Dulce-inspired beer for many years. Thanks to the collaboration of Jon Kielty, Head Brewer, she was able to launch it this Friday, June 12 in New York. Kelly decided to name the beer: Pa’lante because it means “Move Forward” and Puerto Rico needs to move forward after the aftermath of Hurricane Maria and the recent earthquakes.
“So much of our core values here are steeped in building and supporting community. While this beer is for everyone, this beer is specifically brewed to benefit Friends of Puerto Rico and raise not only money but awareness.

Kelly shared more details about how she gathered a group of friends together in late January, and how from that collaboration came our newfound love: Arroz Con Dulce inspired Imperial Blonde Ale. It is brewed with Rice, Raisins, Coconut, Vanilla Beans, Cinnamon, and Nutmeg, aged in freshly emptied barrels of Puerto Rican Añejo.
This project was possible thanks to the collaboration of Kelly M. Coffey, Big aLICe Brewing, Bronx Beer Hall, Uptown Beer Society, Port Morris Distillery, and Craft Culture.
