Casa Kai Opens Its Doors: A Dream Come True for Puerto Rico's Future
At Friends of Puerto Rico, we are honored to extend our warmest congratulations to our valued ally, Fundación Ángel Ramos, for the remarkable opening of Casa Kai, a new center for arts and technology in Santurce. The launch of this innovative project is a testament to their unwavering commitment to fostering education, cultural development, and community empowerment in Puerto Rico.
Casa Kai, located in the historic Segundo Ruiz Belvis School, represents a beacon of opportunity for the local community. This beautifully renovated space now offers a wide range of free programs aimed at enriching the lives of children, youth, and adults through art and technology. The architectural restoration, led by Jonathan Marvel, honors the building’s rich history while providing a modern, inspiring environment where creativity can thrive.
The collaboration between Fundación Ángel Ramos and other key organizations like Amazon Web Services (AWS) through the re/Start program is already making a significant impact. Casa Kai’s educational programs are designed to break down barriers and provide access to opportunities that can transform lives. From arts education for young people to vocational training for adults, this center is a vital resource for the Santurce community.
Friends of Puerto Rico is immensely proud to witness this milestone in the development of Puerto Rico’s cultural and educational landscape. As a non-profit organization dedicated to the economic advancement of the island, we share Fundación Ángel Ramos' vision of creating spaces that empower individuals to reach their full potential. The work being done at Casa Kai aligns with our shared mission of building a brighter future for Puerto Rico, one where education, art, and innovation are accessible to all.
The journey to opening Casa Kai was one of dedication and collaboration, and it is heartening to see such a positive initiative come to life. Casa Kai is feeding not just the mind but the soul of the community, as its name fittingly suggests—'Kai,' which means food in the Taíno language.
At Friends of Puerto Rico, we are inspired by the leadership of Fundación Ángel Ramos and the many contributors who made this project possible. The opening of Casa Kai represents a monumental step forward for Santurce, and we are confident that this center will continue to serve as a model for similar projects throughout Puerto Rico.
We look forward to supporting Casa Kai in its mission to uplift and inspire. Congratulations once again to Fundación Ángel Ramos, and to all those involved in making this dream a reality.
