Start Here Was A Real Beginning for a Group of Entrepreneurs

At Aguadilla Business Center, we are committed to increasingly fostering tools for our entrepreneurs. The Start Here event was one more chance to do it.

On this occasion, participants learned how to structure their business plan, discovered how to generate income and obtain access to capital, and developed a "pitch" as their introduction to their venture and as an essential tool to attract financing. Start Here took place from April 28th to the 30th at the Aguadilla Business Center, our coworking and event space, and was organized with Centro para Emprendedores.

A START WITH MANY TOOLS

At this 3-intensive day event, 35 participants gained knowledge to continue developing their ideas and business projects. Experts provided them with theoretical and practical tools to boost the success of their businesses. In addition to this, they also gained a network of new contacts and support.

Start Here implemented the "Business Model Canvas," a strategic tool that helps companies visualize and analyze their current or potential business model. It consists of nine key elements essential to a business model: customer segments; value proposition; channels; customer relationships; revenue streams; key resources; key activities; key partnerships; and cost structure.

A DIVERSE GROUP OF PARTICIPANTS AND SUPPORTERS

Winners from the previous edition -called Business Boost- also joined the event to support new entrepreneurs. The owners of Ponflow and Mikokos told attendees about their experience and growth.

The event also had the support of the Municipality of Aguadilla, marketing professors from academic institutions, and a large group of volunteers.

The winners received prizes to help them boost their businesses. The first prize went to Daniel Ramos of Puerto Rico en Vitral, who won a professional photo shoot for his business. The second prize went to Yarian Quiñones and Anyaris Quiñones of Quiyan Chocolates. They won a logo development for their company's brand. The third and fourth prizes went to Alejandra Martínez and Aury Arvelo of Am Fitness and Aventuras Portal del Sol, who won radio interviews in the most relevant local media.

"ABC will continue to provide them with a workspace and resources to support their ventures. Our team is committed to providing a space for entrepreneurs to continue innovating and generating the impact we are seeking for the economic development of Puerto Rico," said Yania Villanueva, Outreach and Event Coordinator for Friends of Puerto Rico.
